The Nerve-racking Decision: Which Way to Go After Class 10

Today students undergo great pressure to perform well at academics and they are expected to plan their career path way before they enter college or university. Trying to decide on a field that would define your career can be extremely nerve-wrecking for a child. Choosing a stream for higher education can be one of the most difficult decisions a student can make after Class 10th. Often children come under their parent's or society's pressure and choose one stream over the other.

But it's important to choose what appeals to the student rather than the parents, since they are the ones who have to put in all the hard work. It is not necessary that he or she will perform better in Science stream over Commerce or Humanities. Give them the liberty to choose the stream that they are good at and what holds their interest the best. As parents, you introduce them to their abilities and educate them about the different benefits of choosing each stream.

The best schools always make an effort to introduce the students to varied choices they have and how each one could make or break their future career/academic path. Different parameters should be considered in order to select the right stream. The first criterion while selecting a stream is analysing your strengths and weaknesses from the academic perspective. Student must select a stream that fascinates them the most.

Following are the 3 main streams that students have to choose from:
The three main streams offered after class 10th by the educational board are Science, Commerce and Arts (Humanities). These streams are categorised as per their course structure and the subjects offered.
  • Science: It is a field which is closely related to engineering and medical studies with core subjects such as Physics, Biology and Chemistry. It will focus on knowledge and skills to develop scientific attitude.
  • Commerce: It is a stream that is related to trading, business, commerce and financial marketing. Commerce is the best stream to choose if you poses skills and the love for mathematics and finance.
  • Humanities/Arts: It is one of the most exciting and interesting fields since it has subjects like Political Science, History, Journalism, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Human Resources and and different types of language and literature.

It is important that you decide on a stream after you are clear on what you want and after careful consideration of each. Subjects and course outline differs from board to board. Finding the best school for your higher education is essential to attain comprehensive knowledge and education. Nalanda International has been guiding students in choosing the right path by acquainting them to their potential and educating them about the different streams.
